About Raw Fooders Picnic Pow-wows

This group was created as a way to help people in the La Jolla, and San Diego, areas come together and enjoy activities related to raw foods. This can include nature walks, lectures and talks, movies, outings to restaurants, hiking trips, whatever our imagination can come up with.
We are also interested offering information to other individuals who have heard about raw foods but don't know what it is all about. We would love to share information and food ideas with you. The possibilities are endless.

What are Raw Foods?
Raw foods are unrefined, unprocessed, and unheated foods. The three main food groups are fresh fruits, vegetables (particularly green leafy vegetables), and natural fats such as avocados, nuts and seeds. Raw foods isn’t a radical concept…most nutritionists agree that everyone needs to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. The raw food lifestyle simply recommends that these foods should be most of what we eat.
Eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables is the easiest way to help maintain optimal health and weight.
Additionally, raw greens, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds have vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, enzymes, and fiber--all essential for good health.
Eating even 50-75% raw foods can improve health and vitality. The main point is to increase the percentage of fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet.

So, if you are interested in finding out more about raw foods, please join and try to attend one of our potlucks. We would be more than happy to share raw food ideas and nutritional information with you.

If you do attend one of our potlucks, please bring a raw vegan dish to share with others. This dish can consist of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts or seeds. If you have any questions, just ask.

We look forward to meeting you in the future.
Take care and be well
Prescilla
