Come and hear Brian Clement speak on how incorporating a living foods diet into your life will drastically improve your health. Brian Clement has spent more than three decades studying nutrition and natural health care. Since 1980 he has been the director of the Hippocrates Health Institute. Hippocrates is a place where people go to not just learn more about the living foods diet but to also heal themselves of many common ailments such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. At the Hippocrates Health Institute a major part of the program is focused on wheatgrass, green juices and sprouts. Brian will discuss how these foods and more will improve the quality of your life. I took the health educator program at the Hippocrates Institute late last year. It was a great experience. Brian is definitely one of the best speakers I've heard on the subject of health and living foods. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this great opportunity

There will be a workshop from 10-5 which is $97 up until Aug.14th and $115 thereafter (includes lunch and lecture) and an evening lecture from 7-9pm which is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. This event is hosted by Dynamic Health radio and consious living radio. Presale tickets will be available at Dynamic Health. Tickets are also now available at Gorilla Food 436 Richards St. which is open 11-5 everyday.

Hope to see you all there.

Our potlucks regularly attract up to 50 people--some know each other, many don't. Potlucks usually feature a wonderfully diverse array of fine vegan cooking.

Please bring a vegan/raw vegan dish, enough for 8 servings with serving utensil, ingredient list & your own eating dishes & cutlery.

See: http://www.earthsave.... for map of where exactly we are....

We encourage you to take public transit whenever possible. Plan your trip here: http://tripplanning.t...

Kombucha is a living health drink made by fermenting green or black tea and sugar with the kombucha culture. The result can taste like something between sparkling apple cider and champagne, depending on what kind of tea you use. It's not what you'd imagine fermented tea to taste like. You can buy Kombucha at the health food stores, but usually it's about 4 dollars or so for a tiny bottle. Home brewing is easy and very economical. Why not learn how to make it?
Subjects to be covered:
Kombucha tea, fermentation and special teas and combinations.
Class goes for 1.5 hrs.
Cost: $30 including a Kombucha mushroom to take home for your own brewing and cultivation plus a couple special tea/herb samples to add to your first batch at home.

Anyone want to learn how to make Sauerkraut? Or just want in on the fun of making it as a group?

A little about Sauerkraut:
It is cabbage that has been fermented by various lactic acid bacteria. It has a very long shelf life (since it's fermented) and a very distinct sour flavour. More info about it can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sauerkraut

For those interested in attending, please bring:
a green cabbage
wide mouth mason jars or another type of glass jar that is at least 1 litre in size
some type of bottle or cup that will fit into the glass jar snugly

a very large mortar and pestle
OR
a large bowl (glass would be best) and some sort of implement to break down the cabbage (the vitamix wand works wonderful for this, this is what I use all the time).

optional: you can bring a favourite chef knife if you have one

I will provide:
sea salt (previous roommate left an entire bottle here :->)
cutting boards
knives
and instruction for those that are learning how to make it

When you are done making your sauerkraut you can either leave it here to ferment and pick up later, or you can take it home with you, up to you.

Hope to see you there!

Hi everybody,

I'm happy to announce that my family and I want to invite you for our Civic Holiday Raw Potluck!

We'd like to make this pot-luck exceptionally fun! So,... after dinner, we would like to have a "Raw Foodist Got Talent" thingy. Not a contest, just plain fun :) So if you would like to share a joke, sing a song, recite a poem or do a dance, let us know in advance and we'll que you in.

For new members, we would like to remind you of the new rules we have set in place.

There is a $5 attendance fee in addition to bringing a dish (this fee is to cover our setup and cleaning costs before and after the potluck). Sorry to sound harsh but please taste your food before you bring it, we already had an incident where there were some unedible dishes.

Bringing a dish is mandatory and please make sure that it is big enough to feed at least 8 people.

As usual, cutlery, plates, bowls, and cups are all provided. The dinner will start at 6pm.

In the past potlucks, it was mentioned to organise some car pools to get as many people as possible out here. Please respond if you are driving and have room to take others.

If you have any questions, you can phone me at 604 618 9102

See you at the potluck!
