Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knows of any good vegan cheeses I can buy in Sydney? I bought the soy cheese from Coles and later realised it contains diary protien. I don't see the point of including dairy in soy products??? Any way any recomendations for yummy soy cheese (which doesn't cost a fortune) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All, Hala. =) |

Hi Hala
there the only place I know of is the vegan grocer next to the green gourmet restaurant in King st in Newtown. I don't really like vegan cheese all that much so I can't really say if they are good ones, but I had it once and it was not bad. :) Cheers Shanti |

Mini Chol-cheese is the best cheese ever. I'm pretty sure it is vegan... The best part is that it tastes and melts like mozarella!

I just searched and found that the Mini Chol-cheese has some milk in it, so is not vegan.
Redwood's Cheezly is vegan and organic and is available from www.veganperfection.com.au. They have a list of stockists that they send out with their monthly emails and it is handy for travelling and locating your nearest stockist and also restaurant that uses it on pizza! Shreese is another vegan cheese available and both are at Vegan's Choice Grocery next to Green Gourmet Vegetarian Restaurant in Newtown. I like Cheezly the best but it is really up to your taste buds! |

I don't know of any places you can buy vegan cheese (the last "vegan" cheese I saw had casein in it, I believe
), but I do know of three videos that show you how to make raw, vegan "cheese" (each video actually shows a different recipe--it's pretty cool):http://www.youtube.co... http://www.youtube.co... http://www.youtube.co... You kind of need a pretty powerful blender to make these, though. |
