Hello everyone, come and join us to get high on wheat grass Juice, forget beer, forget spirits or wine, wheat grass juice shots are the ultimate experience in getting high!! best part is no side effects maybe just one: extra energy so you might end up hyperactive: since is Saturday night we got the cure for that, come and dance the night away after all the wheat grass juice you can drink, we also planning to share some delicious raw food so prepare something nice and bring it along, we will share our experiences and knowledge about Wheat grass juice for those new to wheat grass here is a bit of information:
Wheatgrass refers to the young grass of the common wheat plant, Triticum aestivum, that is freshly juiced or dried into powder for animal and human consumption. Both provide chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes. Claims about wheatgrass' health benefits range from providing supplemental nutrition to having unique curative properties. Some consumers grow and juice wheatgrass in their homes. It is often available in juice bars, alone or in mixed fruit and/or vegetable drinks (wikipedia), I hope to see you all there my mob No is 0432 107298 if you got any questions or want to know more about this meet up,

Raw Vegan Feast – Cronulla Sunday 4th October

Spring has already sprung fellow raw foodies! Our next Raw Feast will be on the October long weekend, Christiane and her mother have kindly offered their home in Cronulla for us to meet up.

They are a short stroll to several beaches and an abundance of lush parks.
Address details sent out closer to the time to those who RSVP.

At this stage the plan is still flexible but we could meet up about 10.30 to do the walk to the look out point (which I believe is about an hour and ten minutes there and back). And if anyone is up to it, you can cool off with a swim too.

Lunch about 12.30: On one of the beaches along the cliff OR if the weather is bad we retreat to Christiane’s house.

Theme: Summer Picnic! Food that is easy to carry in containers or bags.
Finger foods – Sprouted lentil burgers
Carrot & pecan nut patties
Mushroom and walnut balls
Lettuce roll-ups
Stuffed tomatoes, capsicums, mushrooms
Luscious colourful Summer Salads
Fresh fruits
Dried fruit & nut desserts
Chocolate balls
Stuffed dates

Bring your own water bottles, cossies & towel or blanket to sit on and your own picnic plate and utensils.

Date is set but will confirm time details later in the month depending on what we decide to do. Just make a note in your diaries now to keep that Sunday free to spend with your Raw food friends.

Yay warm weather, Summer - LOVE IT. Joy..........fully

Mexicana Raw Food Potluck Dinner and Latino dancing!

6.30pm, Saturday August 29th

Got all that Raw Energy to burn? Get those dancing feet ready for a Latino dancing evening!

Just want dinner? Come to Ivette’s lovely ground floor apartment in Ashfield from 6.30pm onwards. We will start dinner at 7pm with a MEXICAN theme. In the past when we do a Mexican potluck we need people to commit to various dishes so that we can coordinate our meal:

Not Pina Colada - coconut, pineapple drink.

Corn bread/crackers or Tortillas. Those of you with dehydrators let me know and I can send you recipes.
Refried ‘beans’ (sunflower seeds) – to go on top of our tortillas.
Guacamole – avocado plain and chili for those who like to burn..
Sour nut ‘cream’ to pile on top.
Shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and onions.

And of course lots of green leafy salads, corn & capsicum & bean salads.

Desserts, hmmm I don’t know any Mexican desserts. Someone search the internet and adapt a Mexican/Spanish/Latino sweet into a raw delight. Come on all you creative raw foodies.

After the meal about 9.30pm, we walk or drive to the West Ashfield Leagues club which has a Latin American Live Band every Saturday night and dance all night long! Ivette has offered to teach us some of the ‘Merengue’ dance steps before we go.

RSVP to Joy and PLEASE let me know which part of the meal you are able to prepare. We really need to work together on this one to make it a success. Joy

Our end of month Raw Vegan potluck will be on August 1st. Close enough to July for me and people were asking what happened to our 'theme' potlucks... well here we go CHRISTMAS IN JULY! (on August 1st).

A great opportunity to try: Nutnog de Noel, Christmas Even Nutloaf, Seasons Salsa, Festive Burrito Wrap, Raw Ginger cookies, Raw holiday apple pie, Yule log..... All titles of recipes from Storm & Jinjee's e-book number 11. Log on to www.thegardendiet.com to check out their e-book section. Otherwise I believe Russell James now has a Christmas book out. Or you can just do a google search for raw Christmas recipes and get those creative raw juices flowing.

Marilyn has been a long time member of our sister raw group GAIA's Table and has offered to do a talk before the potluck for us:

"Dr Marilyn Golden is a registered Medical Doctor, with qualifications in Homoeopathy, Clinical Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Menopausal medicine and Acupuncture. She has followed a raw vegan lifestyle for 6 years. She will be giving a talk on detoxification and rejuvenation and will share some of her practice secrets for rejuvenation and energy". www.marilyngolden.com

When: Saturday evening August 1st at 5.30pm. If you can't make the talk, Raw dinner at 7pm
Where: Townhouse complex in Thornleigh. We have used the comfortable clubhouse a couple of times, it has it's own kitchen and fully carpeted seating area for about 50 people with restrooms. Makes it ideal for families with children. Feel free to bring friends and family, everyone is interested in rejuvenation and it would be a great introduction for new people to sample some raw delights.
Theme: Christmas!

Marilyn suggested being the time of giving we could donate a gold coin to a charity and we decided on the RSPCA.

Please RSVP to Joy with an idea of what you might bring so we can balance our offerings and remember to read the potluck guidelines. Ho Ho Ho !

Hi everyone

We have the Raw Coastie's first official Potluck coming up on 11th July.......so grab some raw food (as simple or as extravagent as your skills allow) and come join us for a Raw Feast and get together!

The Potluck is being held in Ourimbah on the Central Coast - an easy 45 minute drive up the F3 from Hornsby, or just a few minutes from Gosford. Details of the address will be emailed out a couple of days prior to the event.

It's being held at a private acreage property which will be opened up for retreats soon, so come and have a look at the place and feel the good vibrations.

Well-behaved dogs on a lead and kids (ditto!) are more than welcome ;-)The house will be toasty warm but bring some warm layers in case we fancy taking a walk round the property with our dogs and kids to meet the horses.

Feel free to arrive around 12.30pm and we'll start lunch at 1pm. We'll wrap up this event any time between 3pm...or much later....depending on how we all feel :-)

PS PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PLATE, BOWL, CUP AND CUTLERY. A CUSHION MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TOO! ....And my raw vegan horses love carrots and apples ;-)

Hope to see you there! RSVP soon!

Love Flame xoxo

be on time to enjoy a half hour yoga nidra session with Jayatma before lunch
Location: Beach Road, Newport (Northern Beaches) full address details will be in the member section later in the week.
Theme: Winter... soups & crackers, winter salads (get those root veggie raw recipes out), dehydrated goodies and "party food"
desserts.
RSVP: to Joy with an idea of what you are bringing so we can balance our offerings a bit more. We had lots of lovely salads

Hey Everyone – interested in learning some Permaculture principles? Bring a raw dish to share and after our introduction to planning and designing a special garden space, we enjoy our living foods lunch.

Date: Sunday 14th June
Time: Permaculture session starts at 10am followed by lunch at 12pm.
Place: Lucinda’s house in Epping
Food: Bring raw dish to share, please read potluck guidelines to ensure that foods are 100% raw
vegan. guidelines are in our files section on home page.

Lucinda - “I discovered Permaculture about 2.5 years ago and for the past year have been transforming my townhouse garden into a productive food garden (for myself and the surrounding wildlife). Since the advent of raw foods into my life (~August last year, with the occasional foray back into my "old" world) I have changed what sorts of food I am growing. I almost grow enough veg for myself; am still waiting for my fruit trees to do their stuff!”

“I would like to help you successfully grow the foods you want in your own back yard. I am really keen to increase food security by going local where possible and lowering our environmental footprint on the planet. I know how to best design elements to enable you to get the most from what your growing site has to offer. So I invite you to my place, to have a little tour of the garden and then, for an hour or so, to workshop some principles and design methods. I will briefly introduce what Permaculture is/stands for then we'll get right into site analysis, sector analysis (my personal favourite) and zoning. I have created a series of notes (to accompany a workshop I did for Hornsby Shire Council) and am happy to send out soft copies of these. They include some handy plant lists e.g. what plants grow well in shady sites.”

What an opportunity! After our active May month of RAW, let’s keep the momentum going. Being around each other is always a wonderful way to stay motivated, to support each other and share experiences and information. See you soon. Joy…fully

Our next potluck will be on Sunday April 26th - The following Sunday 3rd May is the Vegan Expo so we don’t want to clash with that.
