This promises to be a big event providing the opportunity to hear a very prominent and admirable author speaking. If you enjoy supporting the animals or want to know more then you will enjoy this. Animal Liberation is very pleased to welcome Dan Mathews, Vice President of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), to the office to give a talk on his new book, 'Committed: A Rabble-Rouser's Memoir'. Dan is a well known animal activist who has worked his way up the PETA chain from Receptionist to Vice President over a fascinating and outrageous 22 years. From the "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" campaigns, to invading fashion runways posing as a priest holding "Thou shalt not kill" signs, Dan lives by his belief that you can fight for a serious cause while having loads of fun. It will be an inspiring and extremely entertaining talk so I encourage everyone to come along! Copies of Dan's book will be on sale on the night. Details of the talk are as follows: (next to the Forbes Hotel - entry up the stairs under the "Golfmart" sign) Cost: Gold coin donation. Light vegan refreshments will be served. Note: Building doors close at 6:30pm. Please arrive prior to this time, or call the office to gain late entry.

Hi Group, Time to get 'really' healthy! The Health Director of the Natural Health Society of Australia, Roger French who is also co-editor of Natural Health & Vegetarian Life magazine will be joining us to explain how to carry out detoxification. Roger has health education experience in detoxification and some years ago managed a not for profit health retreat for 47years observing 1000's of people undergoing detox programmes. For more info on the Natural Health Society see this link; Natural Health Society Having Roger with us will be an excellent opportunity for those who want to learn about the benefits of a Raw Food diet and detoxification. He will also help us plan our detoxification programme. We will be running a support group meeting regularly (weekly) throughout the month or so while doing the detox. This is a very important part of the plan. Different levels of detoxification will be made clear by Roger and there will be an option suitable to everyone. The question is - how high would you like to optimise your health :-) The idea is that we discuss this so that serious members are identified and we form a small support group, manage dates and carry out the plan together. Because this can be a big step for some of us who have not experienced detoxification, you are free to come along in interest, gather the information and consider it before going ahead. Changes can vary alot - from minimal discomfort & high pleasure - to high level discomfort & no pleasure - at the beginning. Consider how toxic your body is first i.e. alcohol, cigarettes, sugar, dairy, animal flesh and processed food - that is usually a good indicator how much discomfort you might experience. Start summer healthy! regards, Karyn
