We prefer that you bring a dish, but if you would like to bring cash, we ask a $15 donation which will pay for this website service for 2008, please write in your rsvp that you are bringing cash. Foraging/Wild Foods/Potluck Picnic
Saturday, September 22, 2007 Noon at The Magic Hedge
Montrose Point See directions below This month is THE prime foraging month of the year and so in that vein it's the perfect time for us all to get together and have some fun in the sun getting some free wild food nutrition. Let's meetup at the Magic Hedge at 12pm on Saturday the 22nd for a small potluck and foraging adventure. The Magic Hedge is "a somewhat secret place, of trees, shrubs and grasses on a small hill at sandy, wind-swept Montrose Point on the Lake Michigan shoreline along Chicago's north side." JP, one of the Chicago Raw Food Community's best foraging experts, is going to give us the tour and show us some edible wild foods so that we can identify them and get them whenever we want or see them in the future. Just last weekend, he foraged BAGS of wild grapes and apples, wild plums, some raspberries, sumac bobs, purslane, lambsquarters, burdock, lemon sorrel, and more. Again, wild foods are FREE, can be found all around us, have up to 50 times more nutrients and minerals than conventional foods, are always at the peak of freshness and have many medicinal properties latent in wild food. Please bring your own blankets and/or chairs.

From Montrose Avenue, east of Lake Shore Drive, turn right on Montrose Harbor Drive. At the first curve in the road, a small hill can be seen to the east; the Hedge is right there. A "Magic Hedge" sign is on the south side of the area; other signs denoting the area as a migratory bird habitat can be found on the Hedge's north side.

AN EVENT FOR THE ENTIRE CHICAGOLAND RAWFOOD COMMUNITY Danny & Kathy Living, "The Raw Couple" The Naperville Raw Whole Food Meetup and the Chicago Suburban Raw Food Meetup are heading up to Highland Park to unroll our blankets, sit on the lawn, share some raw food and listen to David Sanborn and Tower of Power with all the wonderful raw food friends we have made and are opening the event up to anyone who would like to join us for fun, music and, of course, RAW FOOD! The concert starts at 7:00. Buy your tickets online or at the gate. Kathy & Danny will arrive at 4:00pm to get a great spot for the group, call them on cell phones - come early to all sit together and gnosh before the show starts...and ensure good lawn space. Please bring a raw vegan pot luck dish to share, or a picnic for yourself (if you like) and feel free to invite a friend. Greetings Raw Food Meetup,
I thought this had been posted earlier, but I guess not, so for anyone who can make it to a last minute gathering, this Saturday night, Aug 18, at 7:30 pm there will be a raw food potluck at Yoga Now Gold Coast 742 N La Salle. It will also be a Mayan Crystal gathering/drum circle, discussion, dance, and we will show a video on Dennis Kucinich.
Afterwards, we will venture over to Butterfly to continue the festivities with some Jungle Cacao.
