Hi All,
Is anyone out there making organic compost (indoors at this point using an indoor automatic compost maker).
Would you be willing to sell 6 cubic feet of compost off of you?
I need some within a week, two at the most so I can finally start my square foot garden. I've been trying to find several different types of organic compost all over the city to mix and use for my garden but can't seem to find more than two different types and don't really want to use the by-product of these industries. Besides, I think the soil will need much more than the compost of one or two of these industries.
Please let me know if you have any ideas or know anyone who can help me if you can't.
Thank you so much! biggrin

Hi Lenette:

I'm so excited that you are starting a square foot garden! I'm a University of IL Master Gardener, and I presented this method at Garfield Conservatory during the Green & Growing Fair in April.

Tip: it's important to use COARSE vermiculite, which is not sold at any area garden centers. The vermiculite being sold around here is too light. I've only found it in Joliet, and they will deliver if you can't get down there.

I have a resource list that I can share with you, which highlights where to buy the 5 kinds of compost and coarse vermiculite you need, but I don't see a way to attach a document on this message board. Please call me at: 773-474-0503, and give me your email address, and I will send it to you.

I'll be back at Garfield on June 12 at 6:00 PM to demonstrate plating warm season crops in the square foot garden. Your welcome to come and take a look.

Talk soon,

Ellen Garza
