Hello everyone! I made a big scheduling boo-boo and accidentally moved the raw potluck from my HOUSE to Chaco Canyon Cafe for tomorrow (Sunday). However, someone brought it to my attention that Chaco Canyon closes early on Sundays, thus, we can not have the meetup at Chaco Canyon. I'm now moving the meetup to THRIVE, and this is not a potluck. I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience. Thrive's menu is posted online at www.generationthrive .com. I'm going to reserve the big table for the meetup group at Thrive Sunday (tomorrow) night. ALSO, I am looking for someone to take over hosting the Roosevelt neighborhood raw POTLUCKS on Sunday nights from 4-7. Due to my responsibilities at Thrive, I can no longer host the weekly potluck at my house in the Roosevelt neighborhood. Please call me for questions at 206-334-7111, or if you'd like to host the weekly raw Roosevelt potluck. Thanks!!! Monika

Please join us for a weekly raw foods potluck in the Roosevelt neighborhood, hosted by Monika Kinsman, Executive Director of Raw Network of Washington. About Potlucks Raw food potlucks are an opportunity to get to know other people involved in raw foods living and have an opportunity to ask questions, try out new dishes, and have fun! The people who typically come to raw food potlucks vary greatly in their diets -- some have been 100% raw for many years, others may be trying out raw foods for the very first time, and others are any place in between. For example, I (Monika) ate 70-80% raw foods for nearly 3 years, and only recently (August 1) begun eating 100% raw foods. What to Bring: Because there are often "newbies" at the potlucks, I ask that if you are familiar enough with the diet to create a delicious, raw vegan prepared meal, you do so, so that people who are new to it can see what is possible with this amazing diet! Also, these events are about abundance, therefore, each person is requested to bring a prepared dish large enough that if eaten alone, it would completely satisfy 2-3 people. Please provide a detailed list of ingredients, and the recipe, if possible. If it's your first time to a raw potluck, and you don't know what to bring but are interested in coming, feel free to bring an organic salad with dressing on the side. Also, please bring your own plates and silverware, and be sure to wash your produce well to prevent E-coli and other bacteria outbreaks. Please note that there may also be (cooked) vegan food present if my housemate invites people to the event. We will keep any cooked vegan food on a separate table. Since this is a weekly event, I would appreciate it if a few people can help stay to clean up -- it will be encouraging for me to continue hosting every week! Address 802 NE 62nd Street Seattle, WA 98115 Directions From I-5 South 1. Take the ramp onto I-5 S 2. Take exit 171 toward NE 71st St/NE 65th St 3. Merge onto 6th Ave NE 4. Turn left at NE 70th St/NE 71st St 5. Continue to follow NE 70th St 6. Turn right at Roosevelt Way NE 7. Turn right at NE 62nd St 8. Our house is a block and a half down on the right hand side. From I-5 North 1. Take the exit onto I-5 N toward Seattle 2. Take exit 170 for Ravenna Blvd toward NE 65th St 3. Turn right at NE Ravenna Blvd 4. Turn left at NE 60th St/9th Ave NE 5. Continue to follow 9th Ave NE 6. Turn left at NE 62nd St 7. Our house is one block down on the right hand side. Looking forward to seeing you there! Please call for any questions at (206) 334-7111. Date/Time: December 25, 2008 Doors open at 10:00 AM (kitchen available) Lunch begins at 1:00 PM Dinner begins at 5:00 PM Out by 9:00 PM (though we could stay later if there was interest) Location: Cascade People's Center 309 Pontius Ave N Seattle, WA 98109-5421 At the corner of Thomas St. and Pontius Ave N (One block from the corner of the Seattle REI store) We will have two meal times so those with family or other get-togethers will still have an oportunity to join the raw food celebration. Of course, you are also welcome to stay all day. I plan to open the building early to set up and prepare foods. Feel free to come early or drop in any time. If you can't make one of the two "meal" times, stop by when you can. I'm sure people will still eat! Chocolate/Cacao: Rumor has it that I may be bringing one of my famous 4-layer raw chocolate amaretto tortes (sold at auction earlier this year for $275.00)! Let's raise the bar on potluck food! Durian: If people lend me their ion air purifiers, like a few years ago, we can have a durian section (which doesn't stink up the place when the filters are on!) Please contact me if you'll bring (or lend) a purifier. Please check with me before brining durian. Music: We will have radio/CD player available. Feel free to bring CD's or MP3's (as long as you can hook it up). I plan to bring keyboards again. If you play, but don't see the keyboards, ask me. Feel free to bring other instruments (guitars, drums, etc.) What to bring: A prepared dish of raw, organic vegan ingredients. (no animal products!) Please provide a detailed list of the ingredients. These events are about abundance! If eaten alone, your food should fill at least 2-3 people. Please bring plenty! If you'll be attending for two meal periods, please bring food for two meals (as though two separate potlucks.) If it's your first time and you don't know what to bring, but are interested in coming, just bring an organic salad with dressing on the side. Please bring your own plates and silverware. Feel free to bring games. The Cascade Peoples Center now has a THRIFT STORE to help them fund the center (the city removed some of their funding). Please bring something of value that could be sold in the thrift store. Perhaps you have some things you wanted to get rid of? You can write off your donation! Consider bringing a donation for the Silent Auction! We will have a silent r'auction to raise a donation for use of the non-profit Center. Donations are welcome: Raw, vegan treats; crafts, services, etc. Gently used products of value are welcome. Please contact Jeff ahead of time with your donation. (jeff at thenaughtyvegan.com) The close of the auction will be 6:00 PM! Extra revenues will be shared with the Raw Network of Washington. Direct donations will be accepted for both organizations Newcomers are welcome! Well behaved children are welcome! For map and Jeff's contact info, see also: http://www.soystache .com/rawpotluck12252 008.htm I look forward to seeing you there. Jeff

Agenda - Meet in the classroom/kitchen at PCC Redmond at ~7pm. (The classroom is located on the left as you walk into left-hand entrance of PCC.) - Chat while you make your potluck dish there, or watch others make their dishes and ask questions. - Bring and discuss interesting books/issues. - Eat and socialize like the big raw foodist family we are! PCC Redmond has given us permission to use their classroom/kitchen for free on the condition that we do NOT use their equipment, we leave by 9:30pm, and that any food we bring was purchased at any PCC at any time. Someone might already be bringing something you need, so you can post on the Message Boards to find out. First-timers do not need to bring anything, but if that feels too weird, grab some berries. Hope to see you there!
