Who organized?
Shaya

Greetings from Shaya, the newly designated, temporary, assistant organizer. We will be having the October Potluck at my house in Long Beach. The address will be sent when you RSVP.

I assume that most of you know the drill - bring a raw vegan dish to share - and if it is extra good, make enough for leftovers for the assistant organizer ;) . As there are different degrees of rawdom, e.g., some don't use namu shoyu, or the great debate over whether there is truly such a thing as raw agave, etc., it would be helpful to list the ingredients and your name on a 3 x 5 card or something like that to place near your dish. In addition, you may want to print several copies of the recipe to share with others.

So as not to put an undue burden on the host, please bring your own serving dishes and utensils if possible. In fact, it would be great if everyone would bring their own place settings. I will provide these things as necessary so as not to inhibit you from attending.

Last, I would like to suggest that we try to make this a "zero waste" event. Zero Waste is the latest thing in sustainability. What this means is avoid using any disposables, e.g., plates, cups, silverware, napkins. It is so much nicer to eat from a real plate, etc. Knowing that the food will be so delicious, it is unlikely that we will have any food waste, but just in case there will be a compost bin available.

We may also be showing a documentary related to raw food. If you have access to any, please let me know. We will vote at the potluck to decide which one to show. Democracy in action!

Sorry, Gang, but my honey and I are back out at our house in Connecticut. Surprisingly, there are a lot of Vegans and Raw Vegans out here, so the idea of starting a Meetup out here has been rattling around for awhile in my noggin. Perhaps someday we could do a coordinated East Coast/West Coast Event, over the Internet! You know, with little cameras and mikes on both ends, so we could all actually chat live with each other! Regards, and "Rem'ber, STAY RAW!", Steve, and for Rachel

Our first time gathering with this raw group and we had a wonderful time meeting new like minded people. The food was very tasty and I obtain a couple of new recipes. Shaya was a wonderful host. Our one hour drive to Shaya's home was worth the time.
    •  All home prepared foods. Great.

We had a great time meeting you all, although we did not get to stay and meet with everyone more one on one... Loved the foods and good convo! Hope to see you again soon!
    •  Beautiful day, scintillating company, delicious food, and awesome host Shaya. Would be hard-pressed to outdo this one!

This potluck was one of the best I have been to! The food was AWESOME everyone really put in a lot of effort to bring some delicious dishes and the people were super friendly and welcoming. The host, Shaya was very gracious and his house is beautiful with lots of cool green features.
