I was wondering what people do with the pulp left over after juicing. I just got a juicer and wondered if there was a way to use pulp (besides giving some to the dogs for a treat smile)

I have some recipes for making muffins, etc with the pulp (not raw) or some kinds you can eat like apple sauce or spread on bread like jam. Or if you compost that's a better place than the garbage/disposal. Some pulp is just no good for anything.

I use a lot in flax crackers with garlic, onion and your favorite ethic seasoning. Depending on what you juice you carry the flavors toward a Cajun, Italian, Creole, Thai.... you get it. You can also add mini chunks of nuts for texture. The spreads are also a great idea as well as the pulp in the veggie juices make nice savory spreads for the crackers too.

Hope this helps.
Peace!

Hi there, Sally!

I remember you said you have a strawberry icon. ;-) I just wanted to say that you can search for recipes online to help you with your juice pulp. I think you said you love carrot juice--a lot of people use the carrot pulp to create carrot cake!

Experiment with it---you may be able to come up with all kinds of creations to share with others!

Lots of love to you,

Wendi

Thanks for all the replies! Rachel - I would love to have the recipes for muffins - sounds like a good thing to make and take in to work. And Olive, the crackers sound great! Are you making raw crackers with a dehydrator? I'm supposed to pick a dehydrator up this week, so I'd love to learn some fun ways to use it and use up pulp at the same time.

I do tend to juice more veggies than fruits. I did find some recipes online for things like coleslaw, which sounds good, or other salad-y sorts of things. Not sure I can eat it all up myself, but I'm going to try!
