I don't want to be all over the message board, but I would really like to chat it up with some of you guys! It's so great that there is a support system in place for rawist in the area! I thought I was all alone.

I finally felt a sigh of relief after finding Michael's meetup group. I guess not everybody is on here all the time, but I thought my last post would start some rhetoric about the amazing lifestyle that we share. At least that was my intention.

I have so much to learn; I just want to know what you know! I want to hear the about the joys and the not-so-joyous moments of this lifestyle, how/why many of you became raw, but most importantly this sounding board can be used to encourage and support each other; keep us motivated and on track. I don't know about you guys, but I'm surrounded by skeptics and cooked foods 24/7. It would be so refreshing to talk with others who understand the lifestyle!

Maybe some of you feel my pain surrounding the financial burden when buying organic produce, or just trying to find it (even something as simple as locating an organic cucumber can turn into an all day mission), or the confusion of what really is the correct raw diet, or is there really a right way - maybe it's just all up to how your body reacts? I would love to know how you feel about things such as: using Braggs Amino Acids (some won't touch the stuff, while others use it religiously), proper food combining, or learn about the spiritual journey you have embarked upon after going raw - or maybe raw didn't lead you down this path? You know, all the stuff that I really can't discuss with my non-raw friends.

Perhaps you are new to the world of raw and just have some basic questions. I think this message board is the perfect and safest place to ask these questions, discuss anything raw and more! Let's use this tool to our advantage and get some discussions going. So if you aren't so sure about responding to any of the other stuff, here's some basic questions to get it going...

Are any of you getting ready for a spring cleanse, detox or fast? If so, what are you embarking on and why?

How was last night's potluck?

I can't wait to learn from all of you!

Be well,
Andrea

Hi Andrea.
Monday's potluck was great! We had a guest speaker who has been doing raw for five years! She started a raw food Living Yoga business too! Of course, the food was awesome as usual! All the food is made with Light and Love. :-)

Yes, I agree Andrea, that this is a great place for all of us to share.

Some quick comments:
Braggs Amino Acids does have naturally occuring MSG in it, which is not perfectly designed for our body. I still use it sometimes, but use Nama Shoyu more often. As I become more and more of a raw food purist, I will probably eliminate both of them, but I am not there yet.

Raw foodist will tell you that food combining becomes much less of an issue once you go 100% raw for awhile (1 year or more). You do still need to watch your food combining, but not nearly as close and some food combinings do not matter at all over time. Also, Victori Boutenko discovered that greens are completely different than vegetables. In fact, she states that greens can be in their own seperate food category from vegetables. The characteristics of greens are so unique that you can combine them with nuts, fruits, veggies and more and food combining is not an issue. If you consider this, then you fruit green smoothies are a perfectly fine food combining drink. :-)

Ellen Livingston is the Living Yoga person. She lives in Ann Arbor and teaches out of her home. It is more than just Yoga. She has raw food and discussion afterwards.

Her contact info is: ellen.livingston@sbcglobal.net

Her next session starts on 4/16.

Yes, being an engineer is what makes raw so exciting, because the science explains why raw works so well with our bodies.
